A conventional MPPT controller is used to maximize the conversion efficiency under normal conditions but failed in abnormal conditions. This paper proposes an intelligent ANN-P&O MPPT controller for Boost converter that utilizes the effective regions of both ANN & P&O methods to identify the global maximum point in order to improve the conversion efficiency of a PV system. The effectiveness of the controller is tested under abnormal conditions and compared with individual counterparts using MATLAB/SIMULINK software.
